Reflective Journal 1
Assalamualaikum everyone, my name is Nur Sakinah Binti Mohammed Alam. My matric number is 2315056. I am a student from Section 20 of the subject coded SCSH 1201. In this page, I will write reflective journal about my experience based on sustainable issues and practices.
During high school, I had a chance to experience one big gotong-royong activity, which involves all school staffs and students. In fact, it was the biggest gotong-royong there as it concludes the entire school in terms of cleanliness and beautification. This happened in 2018. Before the day, we were told to bring some cloths and other materials to help with the cleaning. Back then, I was a school prefect, so I covered some areas such as the school hallways and the canteen. I was so excited as we prefects were more focused on the beautification. We had to prepare some quotes and posters to paste on the walls and pillars around the canteen. I remembered how chaotic it was to finish the posters with my friends. Thank God we made it just in time before all of us had to go back home.
When the day came, all staffs and students gathered together at our own divided places. Me and my friends first gathered at the canteen to hang and paste some quotes and posters that had been prepared by all the prefects. We started by pasting the posters that we made several days before on the walls. We were overwhelmed with the thought that we contributed something to the community. After that, we continued by painting the hallways in school with various colours and decorations.
In conclusion, this event helped me realize the third Sustainable Development Goal, which is 'Good Health and Well-Being'. Humans are easily attracted to something beautiful. Thus, it might help fuel up our energy and be more happy and enthusiastic. I realized how important it is to have a good surrounding. Also, try to look at the fourth Maqasid al-Shariah, which is 'Protection of Intellect'. When your environment is good, your mind will also be well.
