Reflective Journal 2

Assalamualaikum everyone, my name is Nur Sakinah Binti Mohammed Alam. My matric number is 2315056. I am a student from Section 20 of the subject coded SCSH 1201. In this page, I will write another reflective journal about my experience based on sustainable issues and practices.

When we talk about "Sustainable Development", our mind is focused on the environment and society. Therefore, I would like to share one of my daily practices that contributes wellness to the nature. This happened when my family and I went to Mydin hypermarket one day, when we were told that no plastic bag is given to help us carry our groceries. That time we were a bit shocked because Mydin has never done that before, except on Saturdays. Luckily, Mydin has provided its own designed bag for us to purchase, thus it helps us carry our stuffs every time we go shopping there without having to consume plastic bag as it is hard to be disposed. However, this doesn't happen to Mydin only. In fact, the famous "Eco-shop" has also designed its own bag. Nowadays, sellers have started to reduce the use of plastic. For instance, drink stalls provide paper straws instead of plastic ones. Cafeterias also use paper cups for drinks.

Due to this new rule, my family and I have started to make a routine, every time we go shopping, we bring our own bags that we had purchased before. For me, this is far more convenient and safer to the nature. It brings joy every time I think that this little act can save many lives out there. The unique designs on the bags also make it more fun to keep and use.

In conclusion, this practice promotes the 6th SDG, "Clean Water and Sanitation" and its 12th, "Responsible Consumption and Production" as it reduces plastic pollutions especially in the landfills and ocean. Nonetheless, not only that recycling helps preserve the nature, but it also becomes a new opportunity in terms of jobs which may help our community. This also relates to the economy in our country.

Reflective Journal 1

Assalamualaikum everyone, my name is Nur Sakinah Binti Mohammed Alam. My matric number is 2315056. I am a student from Section 20 of the subject coded SCSH 1201. In this page, I will write reflective journal about my experience based on sustainable issues and practices. During high school, I had a chance to experience one big gotong-royong activity, which involves all school staffs and students. In fact, it was the biggest gotong-royong there as it concludes the entire school in terms of cleanliness and beautification. This happened in 2018. Before the day, we were told to bring some cloths and other materials to help with the cleaning. Back then, I was a school prefect, so I covered some areas such as the school hallways and the canteen. I was so excited as we prefects were more focused on the beautification.
